Irene Martínez Martínez, PhD. Principal Investigator at BioMedical Research Institute of Murcia (IMIB).
She graduated in Biochemistry and completed her doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia, during which time she spent a period at the University of Hamburg, Germany. The University of Murcia awarded her doctoral thesis. Subsequently, she joined the Clinical-Experimental Hematology and Oncology group at the Blood Donor Center-BioMedical Research Institute of Murcia (IMIB) with a contract funded by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII). During this period he made different stays in other centers such as the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research in the United Kingdom (between 2009 and 2011), and at the Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas Alberto Sols in Madrid (between 2013 and 2015), funded by the Spanish Society of Hematology and Hemotherapy, the Spanish Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis or the Seneca Foundation. In 2014, she got a Miguel Servet contract from the ISCIII and since 2022 has a permanent position as principal investigator. She is the author of 63 articles and 7 patents and the principal investigator of 7 projects and 2 contracts with companies. She is an honorary professor at the University of Murcia and has directed 4 doctoral theses and 4 master's theses. She is currently supervising 2 doctoral theses.
