    Professor Michael Nagler is medical head of the Department of Clinical Chemistry at Inselspital University Hospital and appointed professor at the University of Bern. His training as a hematologist, laboratory specialist, and epidemiologist confronted him with a crucial question in medical care: "What does this lab result mean for the individual patient?" Aiming to answer this question, his research focuses on meticulous clinical studies and advanced diagnostic tools, including machine learning algorithms that can model various nonlinear, multivariable diagnostic information. He conducted several large clinical studies as a PI resulting in highly cited publications and attracting competitive research funding.
