Prof. Long Zheng is the Department Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, USA. Prof. Zheng was among the first group of scientists who identified and cloned ADAMTS13, a plasma metalloprotease that cleaves von Willebrand factor. Over the past decades, Prof. Zheng has made seminal contributions in our understandings of the biology and regulation of ADAMTS13 and the pathogenesis of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), and other thrombotic disorders associated with ADAMTS13/VWF axis. Prof. Zheng’s group has published more than 120 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and 5 specialty textbook chapters, and led the development and publication of the first ISTH guidelines for the diagnosis and management of TTP. Prof. Zheng also serves in leadership roles in many professional societies, editorial boards, and study sections of National Institute of Health, USA.
